Parent involvement is an essential part of a child’s development. Parents and caregivers are a child’s first teacher in the home. Therefore, it is important that they are familiar with information and resources that can help their child grow and learn.
Here are some of my favorite websites for parents and caregivers:
American Speech Language Hearing Association– ASHA is an organization founded in 1925 and is committed to ensuring that all people with speech, language, and hearing disorders receive services to help them communicate effectively.
Autism Speaks– This organization was founded in 2005 by grandparents of a child with autism. It is dedicated to funding autism research, increasing awareness, and advocating for the needs of people with autism and their families.
Healthy Children– This is a resource provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics that has lots of information about developmental milestones and healthy living.
National Center For Learning Disabilities– NCLD is an organization that was established in 1977 and continues to improve the lives of people with LD, empower parents, and transform schools.
