Description
This is a new product that you do not want to miss out on! I launched this game January 2015 and it has been an instant hit in my language therapy sessions with upper elementary students (4th and 5th) since the new year started!
This is a therapeutic & educational game to help children learn 38 curriculum vocabulary terms. Speech-language pathologists, educators, and parents can use this game with children. Watch them learn and grow!
In this game, you have semantic maps, word banks, and question prompts for types of literature, story elements, and text features terms. You also have a mystery word deck for each student to figure out the target word. This game is ideal for 2-6 players.
Place the semantic map page in the center of the table as a visual for all players. Give each player the word bank and question prompt pages. Laminate and cut apart the mystery word deck and have each player select a word. Then they should take turns asking questions using the prompt pages to guess the other players’ mystery words. The player that guesses the most mystery words is the winner.
Another option is for the SLP or teacher to pick a mystery word. Students take turns asking questions to identify the word. They can use the visual of their choice (semantic map, question prompts, word bank) to formulate their questions. Continue playing game until all words have been identified. Kids practice their oral language skills while building their knowledge of curriculum vocabulary.
As children learn to define words independently, make sure that you remove the question prompt pages. Watch them learn and grow in their Tier III or curriculum vocabulary. If you have any questions about this product, please email me at [email protected]
